Merry Christmas 2001, from the Nádas Family
Erika (erika@nadas.org) started the year with a delightful eight-week stint as grandmother, spending the time with Krisztina in San Diego. As a result of this, she did not teach the spring semester, and thus had some time to herself. The original “someday I’ll get organized” person is surprising everyone – especially herself – by finding papers immediately, without even looking. It’s a start, but there is still a long way to go. Summer brought all the kids home, and fall semester is busily underway, so who knows when the next project will be done.
Gyuszi, aka Julius (Julius@nadas.org) is still heavily involved in the politics of the school – as well as with teaching, so is busy long hours every day. He (we) enjoyed a whirlwind Sportsmobile 4-wheeling trip to Moab, Utah in the spring, as well as a lower key outing to Frankenmuth, Michigan with the other Sportsmobile group. Lots of good people, beautiful things to see, long walks, and escape from everything else for a few days. We’ve also had a couple of good days bicycling together – he bikes, alone, to almost everywhere, and is looking forward to the delivery of a new bicycle, soon.
Krisztina (knadas@mindspring.com) is doing a wonderful job mothering her two sons Zoltán age 2˝, and Sándor, and 12 months. She even sounds sane, most of the time. We were thrilled that they were able to spend four weeks in the Midwest last summer – having babies around really keeps us young. She and Scott (sundem28@hotmail.com) are happy to be together again after some time apart due to US Navy duties. They are looking at having to leave San Diego in the near future, as Scott’s assignments change.
Gyula, aka Jay (eye_spin@go.com) is just barely short of being a pharmacist. He finished 12-21, and graduates 1-12, and taking his board exams in February. It has been a long haul for him, but he is near the end, and still loves his choice of field. Gyula is speaker of the university student senate, and is very active in the community outreach programs in the school. He received the campus unification activities, trying to bond/network the students in all the health care fields. He moved home for the fall semester, and on the side, he has been doing a lot of fix-up jobs around the house, making it more beautiful, more organized, easier to clean, etc. Nice, eh?
Zsolt aka Styles (nadas@uiuc.edu) is finishing his third year at University of Illinois School of Engineering as a Computer Science major. He is doing well, but is not certain what’s next for him – masters degree, or work force. CS people are not quite so popular since dot-com went dot-bomb. He’s been working as RA (resident “parent”), this year as well as continuing his work on the student judiciary committee. Hard work, but he likes it and seems to be suited to it.
Tas (tas@nadas.org) 6’2” at 15, had a wonderful job this summer, working as a computer lab aide at our college. He was well liked, and did a great job. They want him back. Also this summer he completed his scout patrol leader program. and now has six boys looking up to him. He has discovered a love for biology, so Gyula is encouraging him to look into the health care fields.

Áldásos Karácsonyi Ünnepeket kivánunk
Erika az évet Nagymama módon kezdte. Nyolc hetet töltött Krisztinával San Diegoban. Emiatt, nem tanitott tavasszal, igy volt egy kis ideje sajátmagának. Probál rendszert hozni a házba, főképpen a papirokkal amitől fulladhatnánk. Lassan halad a munka. Nyáron mind a négy gyerek és a két kis unoka itthon volt, hát teltek voltak a napok. És most megint megy az egyetemi tanitás – na meg a torna tanitás is.
Gyuszi, mint mindig, nagyon aktivan forog az egyetemi politikai körökben – és persze tanitás is folyik. Evvel éjjel-nappal tele vannak napjai. Májusban töltöttünk egy hosszú hétvéget Moab, Utahban, ahol megint kipróbáltuk a negy-kerekes meghajtásu lakókocsinknak tehetségeit. Szeptemberben pedig Michiganben is pihentünk egy pár napot. Jó kikapcsolodás volt. Egy-két alkalommal együtt kerékpároztunk – Ő pedig rendszeresen avval közlekedik.
Krisztina józan ésszel és sok boldogsággal anya a két fiának – Zoltán 2˝ éves, és Sándor 12 hónapos. Nagyon örültünk hogy itt voltak négy hétre nyáron – ez fiatalit minket. Örülnek, most hogy Scott otthon van – tengeralattijáró tiszt lévén, a katonaság gyakran szét választja őket. Nem sokára ujra költöznek, ahogy változik Scott beosztása.
Gyula a gyógyszerészeti tanulását most fejezi be. Februárban vizsgázik. Hosszu volt a tanulás, de még mindig szereti a pályáját. Nagyon aktiv az egyetemen – a diákszövetségnek elnöke, és kitüntették arra hogy fejleszti a kapcsolatot a diákok közt – a sok egészségügyi pálya tanhalgatók közt. Most itthon lakik megint – és mindig szépit-javit a házban. Jó, ugye?
Zsolt University of Illinois mérnöki iskolájában számitógép tudonmányt tanul. Még azt nem tudja hogy tovább kellene tanulnia, vagy mennyen állásba végzés után. Sajnos most épp nincs olyan nagy sükség a komputeresekre – de nagy a tehetsége. Lesz valahogyan. Még van egy éve elhatározni mit csínál. Az intézetben pótszülő módon dolgozik, és diák biró is, ami tetszik neki.
Tas még nagyon kicsi testvéreivel szemben. Ő csak 190 cm, ők pedik 193+. De még csak 15 éves. Nyáron a mi egyetemünknél dolgozott mint komputer teknikus. Jó munkát végzett és jövőre visszakérik. A cserkész örsvezetői képzést is elvégezte, és idén kb 6 fiut vezet. Nagyon megszerette a biologiát igy Gyula biztattja hogy orvosira tanuljon. Majd meglátjuk.
